London, England | What you can do in 3 days with a family of 4

In the summer of 2013, our family visited 3 main destinations in Europe: Scotland, London, and Paris. Welcome to our family vacation to London, England. If you’ve never been to London, you are in for a treat. I was blown away by the architecture and

Thurnham Hall

Thurnham Hall in Lancaster, England (in between Scotland & London). It is a beautiful resort nestled in the beauty of Lancaster. Lancaster is a city with old beauty charm and reminds me of a time period long past. This resort is near some mom-and-pop authentic restaurants. For my personal review of Thurnham Hall, visit here.  I absolutely fell in love with the architecture of Lancaster and Scotland!
On our way to Lancaster Castle. Does this sign need any more explanation? Lancaster, according to our guide from Lancaster Castle, is known for its dark side of witch burning and executions. Yikes!

Lancaster Castle

Lancaster Castle. It was creepy, unique, and fun!
The castle used to house prisoners and this is the prison cell hall.
Gorgeous real life castle!

Williamson Park

Entrance to Williamson Park.
This park is so beautiful. This is the kind of park that would be wonderful for a picturesque wedding!
The park also houses a butterfly garden.
We took a train to Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland and although I don’t have the best photos, the landscape was so pretty! We saw many sheep!
At the train station.

Glasgow

In Glasgow!
We visited this museum. It was quaint and stored A LOT of old-time period artifacts. Apparently, we were told that one of the Harry Potter movies took a screenshot of the library here.
Mackintosh?!? Yes!
View from atop the museum.
On our way to Edinburgh!
Great window to see the landscape (on the train).

Edinburgh

I LOVED how people were never in a hurry here. This is what life should be like. People soaked in the sun at this beautiful park taking in a bite to eat near the train station and again beautiful architecture all around.
Gorgeous! This is what you see as soon as you get out of the train station.
We went in to this souvenir store and inquired about how much a “Mackintosh” kilt is. TOO MUCH!
At the foot of the entrance to the Edinburgh Castle was this Scottish man playing the bag pipes. Authentic to the core!
Edinburgh Castle. Worth visiting at least once. Don’t let people tell you otherwise. There is a lot of walking uphill though so be prepared to bring comfortable shoes.
Real cannons (obviously not in use now).
This is the Great Hall.
Sherlock Holmes in Scotland.

English Pub In Scotland

English Pub In Scotland

Dalton Arms is a mom & pop eatery with a lot of charm. If you want authentic cuisine, this is the place. It is also situated in a beautiful city for a nice after dinner walking stroll. It is quaint, quiet and there are also a few places you can go for great photos nearby. Make sure you mingle to get to know the people and the culture. This is where we had dinner one night while vacationing in Scotland. Also, if you’re looking for a close place to stay, I highly recommend Thurnham Hall.

I ordered this dinner because I love fish! I was pleasantly surprised with my fish-n-chips dinner and mushy peas arrived. The fish was fresh and delicious! Chips are what they call french fries and they were cooked to perfection.
